CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission should be disbanded, demanded K Krishnaswamy, founder of Puthiya Tamilagam, here on Thursday.Speaking to the media, the legislator said that the State should form an ad hoc committee with a High Court Judge as its chairman so as to ensure unhindered proceedings of the TNPSC until the crisis was solved.Recalling a precedent where the Medical Council of India was disbanded under similar circumstances, Krishnaswamy said it was better to disband TNPSC when serious allegations of corruption were pending.“Considering the gravity of corruption, the appointments made by TNPSC in the past 20 years should be put to scrutiny. It will unearth more skeletons from TNPSC cupboard. All the members who had worked hand-in-glove with the chairman of TNPSC should be arrested,” Krishnaswamy said.“The actions of DVAC should neither be a mere eyewash nor have a political vendetta. If need be, the State can hand over further investigation to the CBI, which would be more appropriate in this scenario,” Krishnaswamy observed. On efforts made by the State in reinstating grabbed lands, he said it was widely being welcomed by the people all over and it would be fair on the part of the State if it took action against the official who had illegally leased out a prime land worth Rs. 500-700 crore to ‘Horticulture’ Krishnamoorthy, an AIADMK man. He called upon the State to pull up the district administration regarding this land, located adjacent to the Gemini Fly-Over.Reacting to the violations reported in the recently concluded local body polls, he said the State Election Commissino should take proper measures to redress the grievances of the affected.Asked whether the party would join the DMK front as it had walked out of the AIADMK alliance, Krishnaswamy maintained that it was not mandatory on the part of the party to join the rival alliance if it walked out from one. He added that the party was equally distanced from both DMK and AIADMK.
