New Delhi: Junior Modern School, a branch of the famous Modern school in New Delhi has been shut for two weeks after two students of class III tested positive for swine flu.
The students are 7-8 years old and study on the Humayun Road campus branch of the Junior Modern School.
Two others schools in Delhi which shut campuses were Sanskriti and DPS (East of Kailash). Sanskriti school reported three cases and DPS (EoK) reported one case of H1N1 positive. The report also said that so far 61 schoolchildren from 14 schools in Delhi had tested positive. Of these 37 children have been treated and discharged. -A national daily
Most schools and colleges in Pune, the worst affected in the country have decided to temporarily shut down, too. Political parties in Pune are pressing for closure of public places like malls, cinema houses.
However, the Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has allayed peoples fears saying that there is no need to panic. Azad also said that there is to be no forcible closure of schools from the Centre. State governments can take a call after studying the scenario, Azad indicated.
The Health Minister had also added that in a global scenario, one cannot stop flying or travelling in and out of the country and under such circumstances, the virus does spread. However, the Government is completely capable of tackling any health related crisis.
