The Domlur bus stop is a boon for people

BANGALORE: Domlur is known throughout Bangalore for the proximity it holds to all major landmarks of Bangalore such as the MG Road, Indiranagar and Koramangala. The newly built Domlur bus stop does everything to help the cause even more by introducing new routes connecting it to the rest of Bangalore easily.The residents are happy with what the bus stop has bought to them barring a few hassles.The bus stop according to the residents now provides shelter and the area stands more well illuminated now.A resident, on the condition of anonymity, said, “The bus stop has been a life-saver and is kept very clean. The sweepers come here every morning and clean the bus stop. The maintainence of the bus-stop is well taken care of. But there are no seats for people to sit down while they wait for a bus. We have to keep standing until the bus comes and it puts us in severe distress.” Mamatha, a resident said, “The new bus stop is a boon for people. It’s much better than the previous one leaving out the seating issue.” She added that they had no option but to either sit on the footpath or inside a stationary bus until the required bus arrives.The worst affected due to the non-availability of seats are the elderly passengers.Devamma, an elderly person who uses the bus stop regularly said, “Its really hard for old people like me to keep standing like this and we end up sitting on the footpath. Some of them are unable to sit down due to the health problems they have.Youngsters do not suffer much.” She further made a suggestion that chairs should be put up atleast on a temporary basis in order to help the aged.The complication in the issue arises during peak hours and the rains. Pallavi, a student said, “During peak hours, it’s really horrible.People crowd the bus stop.When it rains, the situation worsens. We cannot even sit on the footpath. All we can do is hope that seats are put up as soon as possible.” Sharadha, a sweeper of the bus stop said, “Everyone is satisfied with the new bus stop.The only thing is lacks is the seating. If it is solved, it would be perfect.” The local corporator of the area is Geetha Srinivasreddy.She said, “I do not know the matter. I will talk to the concerned authorities and ensure that the bus stop is equipped with seats soon.”
