Raipur: It showed a rare commitment to duty and tremendous character in the face of a personal tragedy.
A news anchor with Chhattisgarh’s private IBC-24 channel broke the news of a car accident which killed her husband on Saturday morning and carried on with the rest of the bulletin before leaving office.
Supreet Kaur was doing the bulletin live when a reporter phoned in with the news of a horrific car accident at Pithara in Mahasamund district in which three people travelling in a Renault Duster were killed .

As the reporter revealed the details, Kaur figured out that her husband may have been among the ones killed. He had told her he was travelling in Renault Duster on the same route.
But without flinching, Kaur went on to complete the bulletin, and then broke down only after she rushed out of the studio. "After she came out of the studio she asked for more details about the crash. The whole newsroom was suddenly plunged into sorrow," said a colleague, Anshuman Sharma.
Many of her colleagues at the station got to know of the incident only when they overheard her frantically making calls.
"As she took the phono she must have realised what had happened," said another colleague Rajesh Mishra."It was very courageous. We salute her spirit."
