Shilpa Shirodkar, a well-known actress from the 90s, is now a participant in Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss 18, which premiered on October 6, 2024. Right before entering the controversial reality show, Shilpa spoke to Free Press Journal and opened up on why she chose to be a part of the show.
Shilpa, a self-proclaimed fan of the show, had said, “I felt mentally prepared this time to take up the show. I have always loved watching Bigg Boss and at home everyone used to tell me that I’d be a perfect fit. So, this year, I guess the Universe heard it and here I am.”
Shilpa, who had a thriving acting career, was away from the spotlight for many years. She began her acting journey at just 18 with the film Bhrashtachar. Despite some early challenges, she became a popular face in Bollywood, working with big stars. After getting married in 2000, she took a break from acting to focus on her family. Shilpa returned to television in 2013 and now hopes that her appearance on Bigg Boss will lead to more opportunities in the industry.
Speaking of reviving her career in Bollywood with Bigg Boss, Shilpa said, “My career has never really gone downhill ever.I was doing television prior to this and in the years that you did not see me it was only because it was a choice I made to not take on something and spend time with myself and my family. So yes, this show will help me connect to a bigger audience and garner more love, that’s how I see it.”
Talking about how she’d like to handle the show, known for big fights and tough situations, Shilpa had said, “I am Me and rarely can anything change that. I love being around people and I don’t lose my patience as often. I don’t fear the unseen. What I have earned and who I am will always outshine anything that comes in my life. As for the show, everything will be handled with dignity and love.
