Kalki 2898 AD: Amitabh Bachchan Buys First Ticket, Gifts It To His 'Brother' Kamal Haasan | Watch
Amitabh Bachchan invited Kamal Haasan onto the stage and handed over the ticket, which he bought for Rs 500.

Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Prabhas and Kamal Haasan gathered at a star hotel in Mumbai for a grand event celebrating Kalki 2898 AD. During the event, Amitabh purchased the first ticket of the film from the producer and presented it as a gift to Kamal Haasan. He invited Kamal Haasan onto the stage and handed over the ticket.

Before calling Kamal Haasan up on stage, Amitabh Bachchan said, “I will give it to my colleague, my dear friend, my brother Kamal Haasan.” Kamal Haasan jokingly said that he wished this had occurred four to five decades ago during the release of Sholay. He reminisced about waiting three weeks to watch the film, which was a blockbuster at the box office. “I waited three weeks to watch it. I never imagined I would be here receiving the first day first show ticket from Mr Amitabh Bachchan. I was a film technician then, and now I am an actor. Nothing has changed,” said Kamal Haasan.

The trailer for “Kalki 2898 AD” has been released, surpassing expectations. Directed by Nag Ashwin, it features Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani. The trailer suggests a futuristic take on the Mahabharat. The story begins in Kaashi, a land rich in resources, ruled by Saswata Chatterjee’s character, who demands complete loyalty. A prophecy reveals a child will overthrow him, and this child is carried by Deepika Padukone’s character. To protect his reign, the king puts a bounty on her head. Prabhas’ character, Bhairava, a top hunter, believes it’s his destiny to capture her. Amitabh Bachchan’s Ashwatthama aims to protect her. The trailer ends with a glimpse of Kamal Haasan, increasing the buzz around it.

The first song from the film, Bhairava Anthem, was released on Sunday. Composed by Santosh Narayanan, the song is an experimental mix of Punjabi and Telugu lyrics, sung by Diljit Dosanjh and Deepak Blue.

Kalki 2898 AD will hit theatres on June 27, 2024.
