KOCHI: The cardamom auction which was suspended due to the Mullaperiyar issue will resume on December 26. The decision was taken at a joint meeting of traders, auctioneers, farmers and officials of the Spices Board to review the current situation regarding cardamom auctions. Presiding over the meeting, board vice-chairman Roy K Paulose requested the cardamom fraternity to join hands to resume trading. The last cardamom auction was held on December 6. Due to the tension on the border between Kerala and Tamil Nadu, the cargo purchased in auction could not be transported to Tamil Nadu. Plucking of cardamom has also been affected due to lack of labourers, said an official statement.
