BANGALORE: Reacting strongly to the early morning covert arrest of mine baron and former BJP minister G Janardhan Reddy, Home and Transport Minister R Ashok termed it as a sinister political vendetta played by the Congress. “Janardhan Reddy’s arrest is a fine example of political hatred at play. Just like Jaganmohan Reddy was targeted for turning against the Congress in Andhra Pradesh, Janardhan Reddy is now being attacked on baseless claims,” he said, speaking at the inauguration of the developmental works in Bhavani Nagar, Banashankari Temple ward. Ashok further made a comparison with the way the Team Anna members were handled during the anti-graft agitation. “Even Hazare’s team members like Arvind Kejrival and Sri Sri Ravishankar were targeted. The Central government is under the impression that these tactics will work in their favour,” he said. G Janardhan Reddy was arrested on Monday by a 15-member CBI team that searched his Bellary residence and allegedly seized `3 crore in cash and over 30 kg of gold. Also commenting on the resignation of former health minister B Sriramulu from the legislative assembly, Ashok said, “Sriramulu is an honest BJP member. I spoke to him yesterday over the telephone. The Lokayukta report has hurt him. I shall ensure everything is set right,” he said.
