KOCHI: In an effort to reach out to students and showcase the cultural heritage of the country, the National Museum and National Museum Institute together are opening a Campus Museum in Sacred Heart College, Thevara, on Friday. Replicas, miniature paintings and photographs of masterpieces exhibited at the  National Museum in New Delhi will be displayed.Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs K V Thomas will inaugurate the museum at 10 am. C V Ananda Bose, Vice-Chancellor of National Museum Institute and the Administrator of National Museum, will deliver the keynote address while Fr Poulose Kidangen, manager, S H Institutions, will preside over the function. Fr Jose Alex, Provincial of CMI Sacred Heart Province, Kochi will bless the museum.Bose said that many more such museums would come up across the country. “This is a dedicated effort to have museums in schools and colleges across the country and in the second phase, we will tie up with National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and University Grants Commission. We have already started training the NCERT employees.” Bose said that at the onset the National Museum would display 100 authentic replicas of miniature paintings and there will also be replicas of statues and artifacts.  The museum will also display artifacts of local people.“The first Campus Museum came up in a school in Kottayam and now we are launching a second museum in Sacred Heart College, Thevara, Kochi.” he said
