BANGALORE: The state government has sought the Union government to sanction two more Multi Skill Development Centres (MSDC) to the state when Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s adviser on labour issues, S Ramadorai met Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda and other top state government officials here on Tuesday.Speaking to newsmen here, Labour Minister B N Bachegowda informed that Ramadurai, who had met the chief minister, appreciated the state’s initiatives taken to improve skills among labour force in the state.He said that Karnataka hosts over 1,380 ITIs in which as many as 1.40 lakh boys and girls come out every year with technical skills. The state government has even taken several measures to hone up their skills and prepare them to get absolved by the domestic and foreign industries.Informing that the Centre has sanctioned two MSDCs at Gulbarga and Bangalore and are providing excellent services, the minister also said that the state government appealed to the Centre to set up two more such centres at Mangalore and Mysore.Strongly opining for the need to impart training to trainers in the ITIs, he said the Centre is providing financial assistance to the state which stood at `15 per hour. “We have also appealed the Centre to enhance the incentive amount to `30 per hour” he said.The PM’s adviser also showed interest on the state government’s initiative in availing the German government’s technical assistance in improving the infrastructure facilities in the ITI’s in the state.
