New Delhi: Gone are those days when fashion was just about the right picks for women, it’s now the hunks that are turning the stones in the fashion industry. At the ongoing 27th edition of FDCI’s Amazon India Fashion Week, day 3 witnessed shows that were nothing short of grand finales; and no, not for women but for the men all around!
While we’ve been getting a lot of wardrobe swamping options for women through fashion shows, some menswear collections turned the tables on Friday. From Antar-Agni’s droolworthy-men to a bunch of designers’ striking ensembles; it was nothing more than pure delight to watch the shows!
Antar Agni’s ‘The Red in Us’
Titled ‘The Red in Us’, the collection made use of an oxidized red as a dominant feature. Pairing it with fabrics, the main idea was to make it look like a vent for the human neutral state. Ujjwal Dubey’s style can be termed as minimalistic fashion with edgy dhoti-style pants and teamed up kurtas, waistcoats and jackets highlighting asymmetrical cuts, patterns and sleeves. The collection spoke of stitch lines and classy tones. While interacting with the reporters after the show, Dubey said, “"We have kept red as a stimulator. It goes extreme and intense and the kind of the personality we all carry. So, we have tried to vent our emotions out through it."
Divyam Mehta’s ‘Into the Woods’
Divyam Mehta’s new line is definitely set to inspire a lot of hunks out there. Earthy hues to shibori patterns; there was a whole lot of variety on the ramp, courtesy this collection. The designer used a mix of fabrics which aimed at telling multiple stories from every covrner of the globe. Nehru jackets, samurai trousers, long shirts, desert boots and not to forget; male models with braids; all made this show worth a watch!
Rohit Kamra’s ‘Royal Look’
Apart from the fact that Randeep Hooda turned show-stopper for Rohit Kamra, his designs also made your eyes stick to the runway. Featuring a wide range of bandhgalas, achhkans, Nehru jackets, waistcoats; the collection made use of fabrics including wool sill and linen wool. One interesting aspect of this collection was the use of Rajasthan khadi (wool khadi) made in Bikaner and Jaisalmer. And oh, you just can’t miss Randeep Hooda’s winsome smile while he walked the ramp!
Kabbadi players on the runway!
The last show of the day that was presented by a bunch of ace designers including Rohit Gandhi-Rahul Khanna, Abhishek Gupta, Ashish N Soni, Varun Bahl, Troy Costa, Rajesh Pratap Singh, JJ Valaya and Rohit Bal was nothing less than a grand finale itself! While ladies couldn’t stop hooting and cheering, even the men had their eyes pop out in disbelief! This all-men show made use of monochrome themes with all the designers showcasing best of their collections. While the collection was dominated by tuxedos and suits, some designers like JJ Valaya made sure to add the right Indian touch with the presentation of Jodhpuri jackets and Aligarhi bottoms. Varun Bahl’s floral motifs embellishments were something really refreshing! Ashish N Soni’s quirky suits made heads turn on Friday. Rohit Bal took to a gothic collection, Abhishek sticked to proper suited men. The highlight of the show was however, when Kabbadi players walked the ramp for the designer Troy Costa with so-much-swag!
While men discovered a lot of fashion trends to revamp their wardrobes, women had a gala time fancying drool-worthy men on the runway. Is that what we call a win-win situation?
