Most people who own a vehicle and use it frequently will have purchased tyres and replaced them in case of a puncture. But do you know that all tyres are not the same? Some tyres are meant for high speeds while some cannot operate at very high speeds and may give away. So how do we come to know which tyre has what capacity in terms of speed? The answer lies in the inscriptions on the tyre itself.
The speed capacity of each tyre is inscribed upon the tyre itself but a lot of people are not aware of it. It is an extremely important piece of information since putting pressure on a tyre by making it run past its speed capacity can lead to it bursting at high speeds, which can have catastrophic results. The speed rating of each tyre is indicated by the letters L to Y on the outer surface of the tyre.
Recently, the National Crime Investigation Bureau (NCBI) headquarters shared a chart, enlisting the letters on the tyres and their respective speed capacities. You must know about them to not get into a fatal accident.

If the letter Y is written on your tyre then you can drive the vehicle at a maximum speed of 300 kilometers per hour. Up to this limit there will be no explosion. Similarly, if M is written then keep the maximum speed more than 130 kmph. If the letter N is written then the maximum speed is 140 kmph, if P is written then do not drive the car faster than 150 kmph. If Q is written on the tyre, then keep the maximum speed below 160 kmph. If R is written, then it is 170 kmph, if H is written, then 210 kmph, if V is written, you can drive the vehicle up to the speed of 240 kmph. L denotes a maximum speed capacity of 120 kmph.
