IIT Jodhpur Introduces B.Tech Programme In Hindi To Support Non-english Students
This decision will help the students understand the course structure in a better way. This move will help students from non-English backgrounds.

With time, the Indian education system has been evolving, introducing new courses to support the interests of students. Bachelor in Technology (B.Tech) is considered one of the most popular courses in India. Students from all over the country study engineering. In India, one of the top institutes for pursuing engineering is the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). Students appear for a joint entrance examination (JEE) to enter IITs. Until now, B. Tech. has only been taught in the English language. But now, students will also have the option to study engineering subjects in Hindi. This will help the students who are not comfortable with English study engineering.

According to reports, IIT Jodhpur has decided to implement the decision to teach B.tech courses in Hindi. Its new batch of undergraduate students will be offered the option of being taught in either Hindi or English. The engineering batch will be divided into two sections based on their preference for Hindi or English as the medium of instruction. It has been found that the same professor will teach both sections to maintain consistency and rigour in education. However, students will also be given the choice of switching between sections.

With this decision, IIT Jodhpur will be the first IIT in the country where a B.Tech course has been started in Hindi. For this course, students will be given admission based on JEE Advanced Counselling. This will be the first time that B.Tech. can be studied in Hindi along with English. This decision will help the students understand the course structure in a better way. This move will especially help students from non-English backgrounds.

The decision was made public by the Ministry of Education through their official handle on X (formerly Twitter).

The post read, “The Ministry of Education is pleased to share that @iitjodhpur will now offer B.Tech. 1st year courses in both Hindi and English, beginning this academic year! This initiative is designed to ensure all students can learn effectively in the language they are most comfortable with. Both sections will be taught by the same instructor, maintaining consistency and quality.”
